Author Event with Monica Oakes

Monica Oakes currently resides in State College, PA and is employed with AccuWeather as a Program Manager facilitating communication across the organization with a focus on key corporate initiatives related to process improvements.

With a background in technology and leadership, her career expands over several industries including healthcare, telecommunications, and manufacturing.

Monica earned both her Bachelor’s in Quantitative Business Analysis and her Master’s in Information Science from Penn State University.

She is the proud mom of two incredible sons—Justin, a recent Security and Risk Analysis graduate from Penn State University, and Nathan, a junior at the University of Alabama majoring in Finance and Economics.

She has been an American Cancer Society Relay for Life team captain and worked on several political campaigns while serving as a party committeewoman.  Monica has a passion for several causes including victim advocacy and mental health awareness.  She serves as a counselor advocate and board member for Centre Safe helping empower domestic violence and sexual assault victims to make informed decisions. She also has started conducting a critical review of the Mental Health Procedures Act to propose amendments for improving overall patient care and treatment.

Love, Lies and Fight co-authored with Terri D is her first novel and she founded Julie Bellatrix LLC to inspire people through her writing to process trauma.
